The William Kubiak Fund

The William (Bill) Kubiak Fund was established to help those experiencing financial hardship to pay for their membership. Bill Kubiak was one of the original founders and served as the first president of Grand Valley Artists (GVA) in 1957, and again in 1979 and 1986. Bill was very sensitive to those experiencing hardship and each year would personally donate to help those in need, right up until his passing in 2010. After Bill’s death, the board at that time suggested that we establish a fund to carry on what Bill and many other founders and others members were freely giving to support those in need.

Bill and his brother Robert were both founders of GVA, and each worked for many years as illustrators for the Grand Rapids Herald and The Grand Rapids Press. Bill was also the author and illustrator of the popular book “The Great Lakes Indians—a Pictorial Guide.”
